Once
upon a time there was a sweet little girl 1)
who was loved by everyone she knew, especially by her grandmother.
Once her grandma 2) gave her a little
riding hood made of red velvet, 3) which
suited her so well that she would never wear anything else. So she
was always called Little Red Riding Hood.
One day her mother gave her some cake and a bottle of juice and
asked her to 4) take them to her grandmother.
"Set out before it gets late, and don't run off the path, or
you may 5) fall down and break the
6) bottle, and then your grandmother
will get nothing."
"I'll 7) take care," promised
Little Red Riding Hood. However, as Little Red Riding Hood reached
the wood, she met a 8) wolf. She didn't
know what a nasty creature he was, and wasn't at all afraid 9)
of him.
"Hello, Little Red Riding Hood," he 10)
said.
"Hello, wolf," she replied.
"Where are you 11) going so early
in the day, my child?"
"To my grandmother's."
"What have you 12) got in your
basket?"
"Cake and juice. I'm taking them to my poor sick grandmother
to 13) make her stronger."
"Where does your grandmother 14) live,
child?"
"Just beyond the wood. Her house is next to the three large
oak trees. Do you know it?"
The wolf thought to himself what a tender young creature she was.
What a nice plump mouthful - she would be tastier to 15)
eat than the old woman. So he walked for a short time 16)
with Little Red Riding Hood, and then he said, "Look
how pretty the flowers are around 17) here.
Why don't you look round? You walk along so seriously as 18)
if you were going to school, but everything else here in
the wood is so happy."
Little Red Riding Hood looked up, and when she 19)
saw the sunbeams dancing through the trees, and pretty flowers
growing everywhere, she decided to pick her grandmother some fresh
20) flowers. "It's so early, I've
still got plenty of 21) time".
And so she ran from the path into the wood to look for flowers.
She didn't realize she was getting deeper and deeper 22)
into the wood.
Meanwhile the wolf ran straight to the grandmother's house and 23)
knocked at the door.
"Who's there?"
"Little Red Riding Hood," replied the wolf.
"Lift the latch," called out the grandmother, "I
am too weak to 24) get up."
The wolf lifted the latch, the 25) door
sprang open, and without saying a 26) word
he went straight to the grandmother's bed, and devoured her. Then
he put on her clothes and her cap and got into 27)
bed.
Little Red Riding Hood was surprised to find the cottage door 28)
open. When she went into the room, she had such a strange
feeling. She called out but there was no 29)
answer. So she went to the bed and saw 30)
her grandmother lying there with her cap pulled 31)
over her face, looking very odd.
"Grandmother, what big 32) eyes you
have," she said.
"All the better to see you with, my dear. "
"But grandmother, what big 33) ears
you have."
"All the better to hear you with, my child."
"Oh, but, grandmother, what big 34) teeth
you have."
"All the better to eat you with."
And the wolf 35) jumped out of bed
and swallowed up Little Red Riding Hood. Feeling full, the wolf
lay down again in the bed, fell 36) asleep
and began to snore very loudly. A huntsman was passing the house
and 37) heard the noise.
He went into the room and saw the wolf lying in bed. "Oh,
it's you, is it?" he said. "I've been looking for you
for a 38) long time!" Then he
took a pair of scissors, and 39) cut open
the stomach of the sleeping wolf. When he had made two snips, he
saw the little red riding hood shining, and then he made two more
snips and the little girl sprang out. Then the old grandmother came
out alive too, barely breathing.
They quickly gathered some heavy stones and they filled the wolf's
belly. When he 40) woke up, he tried
to run away, but couldn't. Instead he fell down dead.
All three were delighted. The huntsman 41)
took the wolf's skin home with him. The grandmother 42)
ate the cake and 43) drank the
juice and felt much better. And Little Red Riding Hood was relieved
everything had 44) ended happily.
